Forklift frustration

Team Meeting 10/6

Talk about a waste of time.  We spent the first hour or so of our meeting working on a forklift attachment that, contrary to the word working, didn't.  The gear slipped, came out of its groove, and generally had issues.  That took up most of the meeting.  The rest was devoted to questions for the Orthopedic Surgeon we're going to interview.  Questions:
  • What are the most common areas to fracture?
  • What is not being done now in bone replacement that you would like to see?
  • What are the causes of Osteoporosis?
  • How would you treat bone cancer
  • What is the procedure for a bone graft with a cadaverous bone or mettalic alloy?
  • In what situations would a bone graft/replacement be necessary?
Pictures later!

  1. Well, at least we know why so many fork-lift designs use string! I disagree that it was a waste of time. You guys worked really well together & learned a lot about pulling things up and down. We also know that BW's modified string lift works & is easy to get back to. Before our next meeting, rebuild 2 lifts w/ regular string, I'll order the official Lego stuff & Sunday we can start programming. We'll swap out the string when the good stuff comes in.

Also, don't forget all the great work Kelly did on our research. Keeping that stuff organized in a good working document will be key to a good presentation.

Use the time between meetings to check out more bone stuff, think of someone to interview, & think about which mat challenge you want to work on first and how best to do it. Perhaps think big picture & ponder the best sequence to use on the mat.

Time has not been wasted if you have learned something. If success outnumbered failure it wouldn't be such a big deal. Good work team.
